The woman, Alison Kay Mansel, aged 21, of Te Puke, suffered burns to the face and body in the attack on September 25. Elwyn John Porter, aged 44, a sales representative, of Brighton, and Rita May Porter, also known as Fenton, aged 32, a cashier, of Ramsgate. were charged by warrant issued by a District Court Judge at Tauranga, New Zealand, that on September 25 last, they threw sulphuric acid at Alison Kay Mansel with intent to injure and disfigure.
