’Bok tour book
A 56-page booklet of black and white photographs of events surrounding the 1981 Springbok tour of New Zealand has been published by a Wellington publisher, Athol McCredie. None of the photographs by the 16 photographers depicts either the game of rugby, or a Springbok. Most are of protesters, police, and by-standers
It is the first published record of the tour, apart from commentaries in magazines and a special rugby booklet. It is described by its distributor, Thomas C. Lothian, Pty, Ltd, as “one of the few permanent and readily available visual records of a traumatic period in New Zealand’s history." The booklet, containing 51 photographs, is on sale in book shops at $7.95.
