General forecast: The anticyclone in the north Tasman Sea is moving slowly north and a moist westerly flow covers the country. The front over the South Island is moving slowly north-east and weakening, but will bring cloudy skies and drizzle to the west of the North Island. In the east of the North Island from Bay of Plenty to Wairarapa the weather will be generally fine with afternoon sea breezes. The cold front just south of the South Island is moving northeast and should reach the Cook Strait area later today. This front will bring a change to colder southerlies ' over the South Island and possibly Wellington with a few showers, but it should clear on the West Coast. District forecasts:

Canterbury: Moderate cooler southerlies, cloudy areas about the coast with a few

showers spreading north during the morning; mainly fine inland. Nelson: Cloudy and cool with light winds; some drizzle, chiefly about the western ranges, becoming fine this afternoon. Marlborough: Mainly fine, but some drizzle about the Sounds; moderate northerlies about the Sounds, but variable winds elsewhere; a change to southerlies is likely this afternoon, becoming cooler. Buller: Cloudy with areas of mist and drizzle at first; a change .to scattered showers and fine periods with the winds tending to cooler south-westerlies. Westland: Extensive areas of mist arid drizzle at first, but a change to scattered showers and fine periods spreading from the south, westerlies. Outlook: Changeable with some showers in many areas.
