Top hair men in Chch
Three world hairdressing champions will be in Christchurch at the week-end to give a one-day course to hairdressers. Clive Basford and Simon and Tino Constantinou, members of the English team which won the 1980 world hairdressing championships at Rotterdam, are touring New Zealand lecturing to hairdressers. During the one-day teachin all stages of haircutting, sculp’ure-cutting. styling, thinning, and razor cutting
will be demonstrated, as well as the correct method and use of haircutting tools. Closed-circuit television sets will be placed round the Town Hall to give the hairdressers on the $llO-course a good view of the techniques of the world champions. Mr Basford has represented England since 1974 and has won bronze medals in the individual section in New York and Dusseldorf. The Constantinou brothers are members of a family of award-winning hairdressers.
Tino was elected to be a member of the world cup hairdressing squad at the age of 16. but under international rules, was too young to compete. In the 1980 world cup Simon gained highest individual points placing, with Tino second. The three hairdressers will attend the New Zealand hairdressing championships, in the Christchurch Town Hall tomorrow, as spectators. The competition, which will begin at 3.30 p.m. will involve the winners of 16
local contests held throughout New Zealand. A team to represent New Zealand at the 1982 world cup, in Paris, will be selected tomorrow evening. Trophies are expected to be presented about 9.30 p.m, Members of the public can buy tickets to watch the contest. Apprentice and open sections in cutting, blow-waving for men and women, and elegant day and evening styles will be held. A fashion parade will also be held.
