Demonstration numbers
More than 120 people took part in the anti-abortion demonstration outside the North Canterbury Hospital Board's offices on Wednesday, not 25, as reported in “The Press” yesterday, said the co-president of the Christchurch branch of the Society for the Protection of the Unborn Child, Mrs B. Docherty. Mrs Docherty said that a delegation of 25 also attended the board meeting. A petition protesting against the establishment of a Christchurch abortion clinic, circulated at the protest meeting, was signed by 198 people. The protest at the board’s offices continued from 8 a.m. to noon.
