Noon forecast

General forecast: The anti-cyclone in the Tasman Sea is slow moving and will continue to bring fine weather to most dis- - tricts; however, the cold south-east flow over the north of the North Island will continue to give a few showers to Gisborne; the weak, cold front over the South Island is moving northeast and is expected to have little effect on the weather; the disturbed westerly flow over the south Tasman Sea will give cloudy conditions to the west and far south of the South Island, with some showers in southern Fiordland and coastal Southland.

District forecasts: Canterbury: Some scatterd rain about’ the alps, but generally fine; light winds inland; fresh northeasterlies predominating on the coast. Nelson, Buller: Increasing fine intervals in the afternoon; little wind; cool. Marlborough;. Fine, cool weather with light winds, apart from afternoon sea breezes. Westland: Variable winds; cool. Outlook: Fine in Canterbury. Nelson, Marlborough • and Buller; mainly fine in Westland.
