Avon calls meeting
An extraordinary meeting of the shareholders of Radio Avon, Ltd, has been requested by the chairman, Mr P. L. Mortlock, to elect new directors.
The requisition for the lodgement of an extraordinary meeting was made yesterday by about 24 shareholders, at the request of Mr Mortlock. ■
The holdings by the shareholders came close to 40 per cent of the ordinary capital of Radio Avon, Mr Mortlock said.
A notice requesting the meeting was sent to shareholders yesterday by the company secretary, Mr G. G. Norquay, stating that by reason of a lodgement of a requisition under the Companies Act, 1955, an extraordinary meeting of shareholders would, be held on November 30. Shareholders would have the opportunity of . electing new directors in place of, or
in addition to, the present directors on the board. The advice was given so that any shareholder who sought nomination to the board, or who wished to nominate another shareholder, could do so by November 9.
A shareholder holding at least 400 Radio Avon shares was entitled to be nominated as a director, the notice said.
Mr Mortlock said that the 24 shareholders concerned included some of the biggest in Radio Avon.
The T and G Mutual Life Society, Ltd, holds 13,000 shares in Radio Avon (about 12 per cent) according to its equity-balanced superannuation fund report to September 30, 1980. Isaac Investments, Ltd, of Christchurch, has about 5 per cent.
It is understood that differences in the boardroom have caused the request for the meeting.
