Drug counts dropped
. A judge has dismissed three of 14 charges accusing Dr George Nichopoulos of over-prescribing drugs, but he left standing charges that the doctor prescribed too much medication for the singers Elvis Presley and Jerry Lee Lewis. The three counts dismissed were that the doctor over-prescribed drugs for himself and for a former cancer patient. The judge said that the evidence failed to support the counts. The dismissals ended almost three weeks of prosecution evidence. — Memphis.
