Stockwell to defend title
PA Wellington The veteran Canterbury cyclist, Blair Stockwell, will defend his title in the Dulux seven-day cycle race after all. The former Commonwealth Games representative is a late entry for the 1981 tour and will replace Palmerston North’s Anthony Cuff, who has withdrawn from the race, which
starts in Auckland on Sunday. Stockwell won last year’s classic and then announced his retirement from top level road racing, but he has been competing in major events in the South Island and tour organisers had not received his entry for this year’s event simply because he had mailed it to the wrong address.
