Steve Wilson bows out
Canterbury’s Steve Wilson will not be going to England with the New Zealand badminton team in December. The 27-year-old salesman and part-time coach was selected for a five-month sponsored European tour last week, but he has since decided to make himself unavailable. The tour comes at the end of an already long season for the New Zealanders, and Wilson says it would have meant
that he would have been committed from now until next October’s Commonwealth Games in Brisbane. “I really can’t commit myself for that long,” he said. “I have got to earn the money so I can afford to P The chairman of the New Zealand Badminton Federation’s management committee, Mr Ewart White, said a replacement was unlikely.
