Drum steps lively

McNab stopped off at Hastings on his way back to Te Awamutu after riding at Trentham. He galloped Drum and the horse’s brother. Tattoo. over 800 m. Fast work was mainly confined to the plough, which provided fast footing. Drum coasted over 800 m in a fast 49.55, the last 600 in 36.75. This time surprised his trainer, Don Sellwood, as the gelding seemed to be doing it very easily. McNab was impressed with the workout and said that the horse felt perfect in every way. Sellwood hopes to give Drum an exhibition gallop between races at the Napier Park meeting in early November.
