Quiet N.Z. market
The New Zealand sharemarket began the short trading week on a mixed,’ quiet note yesterday. A late sale of 500,000 Donaghys ordinary shares helped swell the trading volume on an otherwise slow market. Brierley Investments Fletcher Challenge, and Smiths City Market stood out on big gains, but Sanford and Teltherm were down 10c each. New Zealand Steel eased 5c in spite of the news that the Government had given permission to expand the Glenbrook steel mill. Canterbury Frozen Meat was steady at 365 c, ahead of its excellent profit announcement. Another static issue was N.Z. Forest Products.
