Australians make climb
NZPA-Reuter Peking Four Australian mountaineers climbed Mount Anyemaqen (6282 m in northwest China’s remote Qinghai province, on September 25, the New China News Agency has quoted the Chinese Mountaineering Association as reporting. The agency quoted the association as saying that the four climbers were the expedition’s leader, Lincoln Hall, Geoff Bartram, Andrew Henderson, and Tim Macart-ney-Snape. They had spent 30 minutes on the summit taking photographs before descending safely. The expedition pioneered a new route which is regarded as more difficult than that used by other climbers of Mount Anyemaqen.
