Ranched opossum skins sell well
PA Dunedin Skins from opossums bred in cages have been auctioned for the first time in New Zealand, by Dalgety's in Dunedin. Known as ranched .skins, they sold extremely well compared with feral, dr wild skins. The second saie of the 1981-82 season showed an increased demand for -pale and grey skins, and the market was up 11 per cent on the July sale. Most of this sale's skins were caught in mid-winter resulting in a larger percentage of betterfurred types than at the last sale. The tup price paid rose from the last sale's $20.30 to $22.35. Prices were. Feral skins Grade 1— Large: Red brown, $12.95. dark brown. $15.08. red neck. $10.40. rusty. $11.30. pale. $16.07. grey. $22.35. Medium to large: Red brown. $8.25. dark brown. $12.15, black. $12.50. rusty. $B.BO. pale, $9.77, grey.
