Tasman sells to Europe

PA Tauranga About four months of intensive marketing has resulted in Tasman Pulp and Paper Company, Ltd, securing its first European pulp sale. The shipping operations manager for Tasman (Mr Matt Sproull) said that the orders, totalling 3200 tonnes, would be loaded on board a Polish Ocean Lines ship this week-end. The need to sell to European buyers had been caused by a downturn in the Australian market after a major buyer reduced stocks.

There had also been a downturn in the Japanese requirements, coupled with increasing competition in that area, Mr Sproull said.
