‘Rolling Stone’ back
A New Zealand edition of “Rolling Stone” has reappeared. The first issue, dated September 1, should be in the shops now. “Rolling Stone” was an influential American music magazine of the late 1960 s and early 70s, but its prestige has slipped in recent years. It has been referred to as “Rolling (what new wave?) Stone,” by the more critical elements in the English music press. There was a New Zealand edition in the mid-70s but it folded owing to lack of sales. However, the new one looks more promising. Local content is high, and there’s even a page of New Zealand singles reviewed. There is, thankfully, almost an absence of the American double-layout, glossy maga-
zine advertisements that the j American “Rolling Stone” : features these days. Interestingly, the new New ; Zealand edition is produced i in Australia.
