Watergate man not to visit
PA Auckland A Wategate conspirator, Mr Gordon Liddy, will not
visit New Zealand. He was due to arrive at Auckland this evening for a three-day visit to promote his book, “Will.” A spokesman for his New Zealand publisher, Hodder and Stoughton, said the trip had been cancelled.
Mr Liddy was sentenced to 20 years jail in 1973 for planning the raid on the
Democratic National Comt mittee headquarters at the i Watergate Hotel in Washing- * ton. He served about years of his sentence. r People convicted of a r criminal offence with more ) than a year's jail are not allowed into New Zealand.
