Jobless payments up
PA Wellington The number of unemployment beneficiaries rose by 772 in the two weeks to August 21, said the Social Welfare Department yesterday.
The number at that date was 34.247, up from 33,475, of which 22,527 were males, and 11,720 were females. A total of 11,331 unemployment beneficiaries at August 21 were aged less than 20, 15 fewer than two weeks before.
