Last day for objections
Persons wishing to present their objections to the proposed coastal landfill site at Waimairi Beach to the Waimairi County Council’s hearings committee should do so today. Because of an unexpectedly low public attendance, the hearing is likely to finish today. The hearing was scheduled to run until Saturday. Today’s session will start at 1 p.m. and might last until 10.30 p.m.
More than 1700 Written objections have been lodged with the council over the proposed site. However fewer people than expected have chosen to appear to make submissions in support of their objections.
