Bush scores five tries
PA ■ Masterton Wairarapa Bush scored five tries in beating Thames Valley, 32-6, in a national second division rugby match at Masterton yesterday. Up by just 8-6 at half-time, Wairarapa Bush found another gear in the second spell and the winning margin was a fair indication of the merits of the two sides. Outstanding in the Wairarapa Bush pack were the prop, Chris Kapene,.and the locks, Andy Earl and
Mike McCool, while the centre, ‘Jimmy Cotter, and the wing, Greg Karaitiana, starred in the backs. The Thames Valley team lacked penetration in the backs but in its lock. Peter Slaveich, and No. 8, Ross Cooper, it had two hardworking forwards. Greg Karaitiana (2), Jimmy Cotter, Andy Earl and Merv Dudley scored tries for Wairarapa Bush and Charlie Kaka kicked two penalties and three conversions. Peter Slaveich kicked two penalties for Thames Valley.
