Carter breaks silence

NZPA-Reuter Chicago The. former American President, Jimmy Carter., breaking public silence on his successor’s policies, has attacked President Reagan’s package of tax cuts calling., them “a Christmas tree for" special-interest groups."

"But I’m willing to let tne economic events of the next year take their course before I speak out any more.” In response to questions on President Reagan’s decision to resume production of the neutron bomb, Mr Carter said, "When I was President. I interrupted production because no European countries were willing to deploy them.

“I don’t think Germany nor any other nations are willing to allow the bombs to be based there."
