Protesters invited to complain
Protesters who considered that they were the victims of excessive force by the police at the anti-apartheid demonstration in Christchurch on Saturday have been invited to record their complaint with the Canterbury Council for Civil Liberties.
A council spokesman. Dr K. P. Clements, said that persons could make their complaints known at a meeting in the senior common room of the Arts Centre at 4.30 p.m. today. A team of lawyers and secretaries would be present to assist in the gathering of information, which would then be forwarded to the police. Dr Clements said it was hoped that an independent tribunal, possibly chaired by a retired magistrate, could hear some of the evidence after it had been presented to the police.
