Air N.Z. freighter to fly soon
PA Wellington Air New Zealand’s converted DCB freighter will enter commercial service on October 8. The airline’s cargo manager, Mr Michael Neville, said that the aircraft would start its scheduled flights with an Auckland to Wellington toMelbourne run. The next morning it would leave for Honolulu and Los Angeles.
The DCB has recently been converted from a passenger aircraft. When it leaves the engineering hangar at Mangere on October 2 it will have a specially designed colour scheme incorporating the Export Institute logo. Apart from general import and export cargoes, the freighter will carry livestock and restricted items not permitted on passenger aircraft.
