Springbok tour
Sir,—On August 16 I heard on the national radio news that the Mayor of Christchurch and the Anglican Bishop of Christchurch had both praised the anti-tour protesters for the peaceful(?) demonstrations of the previous day. This praise of the demonstrations condones the barbaric acts of: (1) Throw-
ing tacks and broken glass on the rugby field in the hopes of causing injury not only to the visiting players but also to our own countrymen. (2) Throwing sand into the eyes of the police which could cause blindness. Are these acts considered those of Christians? There was no mention on-the radio of praise for the police from these two leading citizens. — Yours, etc..
M. BUSH. July 16. 1981.
