Work on the demolition of the old South Brighton bridge has been started by Taggart Earthmoving, Ltd, of Christchurch. Later this week, a large section of the old bridge will be moved to Charlesworth Street to provide a new bridge across the Linwood drainage canal, near the Estuary. Other material from the bridge is to be used by the Christchurch City Council’s parks and recreation department for landscaping.
