Govt housing pledge
PA Wellington More Government housing would be made available to Maoris under a Labour government, says the Southern Maori member of Parliament. Mrs Whetu TirikateneSullivan.
“Encouragement will be given to marae and papakainga (family plot) housing, giving meaning to the role of the maraes in the Town and Country Planning Act,” she said.
“Under Labour, it will be mandatory for local bodies to provide in their district, schemes for Maori housing on Maori ancestral land.”
