Top umpire retires
PA Wellington Bob Monteith, one of Wellington’s top cricket umpires, has retired from the first class scene because of illhealth. Mr Monteith, aged 44. has been on the first class panel
since 1965-66 and in that time has umpired seven test matches. Mr Monteith, who is secretary of the New Zealand Umpires Association, intends to continue umpiring at club level in the Hull Valley.
