Orienteering event
Tussock. matagouri. swamps, and steep hills promise demanding competitive courses for the Peninsula and Plains Orienteers’ event at Ahuriri on Sunday. Although the area will be difficult for competitive orienteers; . beginners and walkers will be catered for as usual with a simple short course lasting about 25 to 30min.
Alex Cook took the A grade honours in this area last year, and there should be a close finish between him and the in-form Graham Boniface who has won five events in succession. Registration will be signposted about 3km . past Tai Tapu on the main Akaroa highway and start times will be between 10.30 a.m. and 1.30 p.m.
