Firm market trend
Share prices firmed in moderately active trading on New Zealand stock exchanges yesterday. Rises outnumbered falls more than two to one. and the N.Z.U.C. index rose’2.36 points. Ballins Industries gained 5c to 130 c ahead of yesterday’s annual meeting, and Alex Harvey Industries and Hauraki Enterprises both firmed after shareholders were told of better prospects for the respective companies. N.Z. Forest Products, New Zealand South British Group, and Wattie all recovered lost ground, and Fletcher Challenge was steady. New Zealand Farmers’ Co-operative eased under profit-taking, and other falls included Lane Walker Rudkin. National Insurance, and Progressive Enterprises.
