‘McKenzies’ fades away

After about 50 vears as a retail outlet the trade name, McKenzies, will disappear from shop frontages in Christchurch.

Two years ago McKenzies New Zealand. Ltd. wastaken over by Woolworths New Zealand. Ltd. which some months earlier had been taken over by the Aucklandbased firm of L. D. Nathan and Company, Lid. McKenzie's Auckland stores now carry the Woolworths store name and in Christchurch new shop signs should be up by the end of this month, said a company spokesman for Woolworths. The McKenzies name would be retained only in small centres such as Picton, where Woolworths had not previously been represented, said the spokesman.
