Milestones
Qantas is to build a sAust22M cargo complex at Sydney's Mascot Airport. The new terminal will enable Qantas to provide an unequalled air-cargo handling service in Sydney. A major advantage will be its proximity to the international passenger terminal. The two will be less than 500 metres apart. Cathay Pacific Airways, in its thirty-fifth year of operation, has recorded a profitable first six months on its 23-destination network. This successful situation is against industry trends and
the airline is confident of a profitable year in 1981.
Mr Bruce Kenny, central area sales manager for Qantas in Wellington, will replace Mr Don Menzies as the
airline’s southern area manager in Christchurch. Mr Kenny, a New Zealander, has been with Qantas since 1967 and was based in Auckland, Palmerston North, and Napier before moving to Wellington in 1974. Mr Peter Blacklock, the airline's Otago-Southland sales manager since 1977 is to move from Dunedin to Wellington as sales manager, and Mr Sandy Whyte, cargo sales representative for Qantas in Christchurch replaces Mr Blacklock in Dunedin. Mr Menzies has been appointed the airline's manager for Germany.
