Scott Base post
A former pupil of Shirley Boys’ High School. Mr George Halligan, has been appointed information officer at Scott Base in the Antarctic for the summer season.
Mr Halligan, until his appointment as Scott Base information officer, worked as a scientist in the D.S.I.R.'s Plant Physiolog}' Division at Palmerston North.
During the Antarctic summer season, from October until late January. Mr Halligan will provide a news and public relations service to field parties working from Scott base, and to the New Zealand public, through the D.S.I.R.’s Antarctic Division in Christchurch.
