Doherty holds lead
Even the cruel luck of two punctures, and a consequent tenth, placing at Sefton yesterday. did little to disturb Steve Doherty's lead in the Wilson Neill professional cycling series during the week-end On the undemanding Bkm Leeston block on Saturday, in which only seven finished. Doherty again led a small break, and won this time from the consistent Owen Wylie and Clayton Yaxlev.
Doherty now has 96 points from a possible 120; Yaxley has 80. Wylie 75 and nant 72. Then there is a slight drop" to yesterday's winner. John Cleary (64i and a significant drop to Creg Cox (4H. But Doherty has conceded leadership in the Penfold Wines sprint ace series. Wylie now has nine points, Doherty eight, and the much improved Graham Schist seven. Cleary won the battle against
the elements convincingly at Sefton yesterday, with nant also missing from the sprint. He punctured in the final 5 km. Results. --
