No bursary change
PA Wellington Changes to the bursary system mooted in a leaked Education Department document would not be implemented, said the DirectorGeneral of Education, Mr W. Renwick, yesterday. The document suggested abolishing the hardship bursary for an -allowance avail-
able only to married students with a dependent spouse and children. The ordinary tertiary assistance grant would also be amended to give $27 to students aged under 20 and $32 to those aged more than 20. ■ . Student leaders had said that the document prejudiced talks students and the Vice-
chancellors’ Committee had been holding with the ■department. ' ' But Mr Renwick said that none of the. proposals was under consideration. He said, “there's nothing in the paper that we will use.” He would approach the students to explain: the'document's relevance. : I
