Drinking and Driving Blitz Fair cop be damned. We’re using mum cars; Most New Zealanders have got the message —- that there’s no place on our roads for the drunken driver. Unfortunately, there’s a hard core of drinking drivers still with us who drink beyond the limit and hope they’ll see us before we see them. Too many think this way. We have to catch them to avoid the havoc they cause themselves and others. That’s why we’ve put mufti cars on the road — dozens of them. Those headlights in the rear vision mirror will look like any other car. . . until the red lights behind the grille start flashing.
