Tax teams at play
Inland revenue teams from many parts of the country produced vigorous competition for each other in the Taxes, national basketball tournament at Pioneer stadium over the week-end. Hamilton won the men’s major final, beating Christchurch, 64-49, but the home side triumphed in the women's major final with a 56-31 win against Oamaru. In the minor finals, Lower. Hutt beat Tauranga, 24-20, in the men’s game, and Auckland beat Napier, 22-13, in the women's. More than 200 matches were played in the stadium at the week-end.
