Otago double won by Amberley stablemates

Special correspondent Wingatui Good Wav and Jane Again made it a possible for the Amberley trainer, John Parsons, when they won . the Otago Racing Club’s T.A.B. double yesterday. Parsons had won with Highborn and Streetem, his other two runners on the first day of the meeting. “He is a mile better this year. He has grown and strengthened,” said Parsons, of Good Wav, which won the Birthday Handicap impressively. There was a bonus for Parsons in Jane Again’s win, as he races the mare.

Good Way will race next at Riccarton in a fortnight, then at .Trentham, where he was placed last winter. Parsons took Cellay out of the hurdles yesterday and will race him at the Otago Hunt meeting next Saturday along with Highborn. They are remaining at Wingatui with Tom Cowan, who rode Good Way and Streetem.

Bymai heralded another successful innings as a jumper when he easily won the Otago Hurdles. “He is a lot more settled and measured his fences a lot better,” said Alister Robinson, who was having his first jumping ride on Bymai since he won a hurdles race on the gelding at Washdyke last June. Robinson turned down the Grand National Hurdles ride on Bymai after a rough ride

that day and the winning] mount went to “Nick” Har-' nett. Robinson never covered a centimetre of extra ground on Bymai yesterday. He hadl

him in behind the pacemaker, Treb, came through on the inside to lead after the .second last fence and Bymai I came clear to win by five lengths.
