NZPA Helsinki Arto Haerkoenen. of Finland. threw his javelin 91.84 metres in his first effort of the season at the Olympic. stadium, establishing the world's best result this season. Helmut Schreiber of West Ger-
many, was second with a throw of 86.36 m. In the 10.001) metres. Stephen Jones, of Britain, went after the world's best result, but failed. His solo run. however, turned out the best European result when he finished in 28:02.55.
