Costly soccer point for Chch United
Christchurch Mogal United picked up a point, but paid a high price for it, when it drew, 00. with Takapuna City in a Rothmans Soccer League match in Auckland on Saturday. United suffered four injuries during the match, which was played on the poor Taharoto Park ground. The most serious was that suffered by its latest import. Pat Sharkey, who strained a hamstring and is very unlikely to be fit for United’s match against Wellington Dia- > mond United at English Park today. The other three injuries are all ankle problems. The most likely to be fit to play today is the
midfielder, Graham Archer, while James Margaritis and Kees Doornenbal will have a race against time to recover sufficiently to play. The match was disappointing, with few chances created. United •had a stronger first half, but■ Takapuna controlled large parts of the second, using plenty of long balls pushed into United's defence. Each team had just one real chance, Margaritis shooting over the bar for United, and David McSweeney hitting the ball well, over the top for Takapuna. United’s defence performed well, shutting out Takapuna’s nippy strikers effectively.
