Leaders win again in soccer league
By DAVID LEGGAT Hanimex-North Shore and Dunedin City both recorded wins over tough rivals on Saturday to remain at the top of the Rothmans Soccer League. / North Shore, too strong for a disappointing Wellington Diamond United, won, 2-1, in Wellington. Brian McKeown scored the first goal, which gives him 10 for the league this season, and Kerry Hale added the second. Jeff Strom’s late consolation goal for W.D.U. was a strong long-range drive. Dunedin City is one of two teams unbeaten in. the league, and its 3-1. win over Mount Wellington in Dunedin showed it will put out a strong challenge for the league title. Mike Glubb scored twice and lan Boath once in a fiveminute spell midway through the second half which sunk the Mount. Billy McClure scored just before the end for the inconsistent Auckland side. A further round of matches will be played today, with two games in Christchurch. Woolston W.M.C. will meet Dunedin City at Queen Elizabeth II Park, Christchurch Mogal United will play W.D.U. at English Park, Hamilton will face Rangers in Hamilton, Mount Wellington will meet North Shore and National Mutual Miramar will play Takapuna City.
