Scarf’s link with Queen
This silk scarf is a link between the Queen and Miss Betty Perrett, but the link should be severed during Telethon, because the scarf will be auctioned for. the cause. -
Miss Perrett was working at the United Service Hotel, as a maid, when the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh stayed there in 1963. In return for her services, the Queen gave Miss Perrett the
scarf, which depicts the Royal yacht Britannia. Miss Perrett is physically handicapped herself, and will part with her cherished possession because the proceeds from this year’s Telethon will be for disabled people.
