Situations Vacant HONG KONG GOVERNMENT PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED for the following vacancies: LAND SURVEYORS (Reference PWD/LS) QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Corporate Membership in the Land Surveyors: Division of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors; or a licence to practice as a Land Surveyor in Australia, New Zealand, Canada or South Africa; and one year’s post qualifications experience in surveying work. DUTIES: The duties of the post include the performance of all types of land surveying including cadastral, control, topographical and engineering surveys; supervision of the preparation and production of plans for all.survey purposes; training and supervision of junior officers. ENGINEERS (GEOTECHNICAL CONTROL OFFICE) (Reference PWD/E(GCP)) QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Corporate Membership of one of the following Institutions, or equivalent: i the Institution of Civil Engineers; ii the Institution of Municipal Engineers iii The New Zealand Institution of Engineers (Civil). DUTIES: Either: „ , . x a To work in the Quarries Section of the Materials Division involving: . i the design and supervision of a variety of works with emphasis on quarrying, process plants, steel and RC structures, drainage, and slope stability; and . ii the investigation of the long-term planning of quarries and quarrying, and preparation and administration of contracts for the operation of private quarries; OR b To work in the Materials Testing Laboratories of the Materials Division and direct testing programmes both in the laboratory and in the field; advise on materials-related problems, and initiate and control development and research projects. STRUCTU'RAL.ENGINEERS ■ (ARCHITECTURAL OFFICE) (Reference PWD/S.E The Water Supplies Department of the Hong Kong Government requires Engineers to design distribution systems, service reservoirs, pumping stations treatment works and other civil engineers projects and to prepare tender documents and supervise contract works in respect of such projects; and to work in the operational branches of the Department. The current water consumption in Hong Kong is about 1.5 million cubic meters a day rising at a rate of 6 per cent per annum and the average annual capital expenditure is over SNZ7O million.
