Outstanding hurdler last winter when wins included Brighton, Great Northern and Wellington Hurdles. Brought to peak for this by flat racing and in fine form recently, winning over 2100 m at Te Rapa on May 16 and 2700 m at Rotorua last Saturday. R. Won brace of hurdle races during late summer but four starts since have been on flat. Remarkably won 1600 m at Riveton in April, then third to The Twinkle and King Kaka over 1600 m at Riccarton. One of busiest hurdlers last year and good performance included third in this race, third in Wellington Hurdles and a win in Rimu Hurdles at Trentham. Second, four starts back,' was in Brighton Hurdles and ran on well for fifth in flat 2700 m at Rotorua last Saturday. F. Hillis Colours: Emerald green, black Maltese cross (b and f), red sleeves and cap. 9_4310 OMEGO (16) 59.5 (7g, by Entrepeneur-Mondy, trainer G. A. Rogerson, Te Rapa). Finished last in Seddon Hurdles at Te Rapa on May 16 but scored at Trentham a week earlier when ground firm. Fourth in Brighton Hurdles after nearly falling at last. Chance will recede if rain arrives. G. Temperton, Awapuni); Prepared bv one of most successful trainers of jumpers. Won Glen Hurdles, beating Young Jeff at Trentham last October and in form again with easy win at Foxton on May 16 and second, under ,67.5 kg at Awapuni on May 20. Needs heavy footing. M. ; Gillies Colours. Red, lavender cap. 11— ROY ALVARO (9) 59 (Bh, by Alvaro-Royal Bride, trainers J. E. and J. W. Winder, Cambidge); Fair race for seventh in flat 2700 m at Rotorua last Saturday. Faded to tenth in Waikato Hurdles the time before. Won jnost impressively in lesser class at this meeting .last year and is very good jumper. N. Maiden hurdler which has been matching the best lately. Second in Waikato Hurdles,, second, beaten half-head, in Seddon Hurdles then third to Mr Hickey in flat 2700 m at Rotorua last Saturday. Colours: White, gold sleeves, sash and cap. 13— CANDIMAN (15) 57.5 (9g by Sugar 1 AppleBourbon Rose, trainer L. A. Short, Pukekohe). Third in steeplechase at Pukekohe on May 19. Won well in Young Nick Hurdles at Ellerslie , on May 2 but ran poorly in Waikato Hurdles. C. Wood Colours: White, grey sleeves, red crossed sashes and cap. , / 14— BURNABY (11) 57 (sh, by No Quarter-Mar-etta, trainer K. B. Opie, Te Aroha). Won well at Gisborne on May 9 and in only other four hurdle races, all l?/t year, gained a first, two thirds, and a fifth. Shaped well at Ellerslie jumping trials last Tuesday. Prefers heavy footing. C. Freakley Colours: Emerald green, pink spots, sleeves and cap. 15— CRACK EVEN (4) 57 (Bg, by Even StevenPuniu Rose, trainer G. W. Pepper, Te Awamutu): Won first-up as hurdler at Te Rana on May 9 then scored again (3000 m at Pukekohe on May 19. This is much more difficult assignment but could be dangerous lightweight.
