Painting sells for $17,500
Petrus Van dec Velden’s “Church is Out,” painted in the Netherlands in 1876, has been sold for $17,500 to a Fendalton buyer. . The sale was the highlight of Kent Prier-s fine arts auction at the Winter Garden. It was the highest price
reached for a painting in Canterbury, and possibly in the South Island, Mr Prier said. It was ■ bought by a private buyer who did not wish his name known. V About 300 people attended the auction.
