Names sought for women’s group
PA Wellington The Government has called for nominations to the reconstituted Advisory Committee on Women’s Affairs.
The Government's spokesman on women’s affairs, Mr McLay, invited women’s organistions and individuals to submit names of suitable members to him by June 15.
Mr McLay said that the Government had decided that all six members of the committee should be , appointed as individuals, instead of as representatives of organisations.
“They should also. have a consciousness of, and involvement in, a range of women’s issues rather than possess specific qualifications and interests,” Mr McLay said. Before its reconstitution, which Mr McLay foreshadowed on May 14, the committee comprised 12 members.
It will be administered by the State Services Commission.
