Teachers seek parity
PA • Wellington The' Educational institute wage claim lodged yesterday seeks ; wage parity between primary and secondary school teachers.
Last year both- the Educational Services Committee and the Government Services Tribunal rejected the primary teachers’ claim. Angry protest meetings followed.
The six months which must elapse before a new claim can be filed ended on the eve of the institute’s annual , meeting and conference last-week. •• Debate on the lost claim and the framing -of . a new award took, priority at the conference. Teachers also threatened industrial action if the parity claim was. not inet this year, j , No response is expected from the Education Services Committee for about two months.
