Made ground promisingly enough when seventh over 1200 m at Te Rapa last Saturday. Revels in wet going and very likely Improver. 2 6941 DEB'S MATE (8) 57. Back iu good form witli last-start win at weight-for-age over 1600 m at Avondale on April 23 D. Stockwell 3 9732 GIOVANNI (3) 57. Racing pretty consistently but appears disadvantaged in this scale of weights. S. Autridge 4 0038 HOTSAND (5) 57. Wellperformed gelding at early stage of another campaign. Raced well soft tracks last spring and winter. B. Cullen 5 1150 LANGELAND (13) 57. Wanganui five-year-old with a big reputation. Failed to show up last start, but good fifth previous time in first race after a let-up. 6 90 MAGISTRATE (18) 57. Stayer resuming racing after a lay off, though has shown up in recent barrier trials. Looked near winning form again when fifth, two starts back, in the A.R.C. Easter Handicap, but failed to go as well meanwhile when beaten at Avondale on April 29. 10 0222 GOLD DUST (14) 56. Racing solidly and turned in another game performance at Te Rapa last Saturday. 11 3211 ORCHIDRA (1) 56. Fine mare now seven years old but as good as ever. On good footing would seem certain to go well. J. Grylls 12 9030 SYLVANER (7) 56. Lost all chance last Saturday when slow away in the Lady Norrie Stakes. Seems to prefer reasonably firm footlt1t" G Childs 13 9721 EL CASINO (9) 54.5. One of the best three-year-olds wltich gained deserved win at Te Rapa last Saturday. Previously second to Ring The Bell. 2000 m, Avondale. Should not have much trouble with this distance.

P. Johnson 14 1431 KEV'S BOY (16) 54.5. Verv good three-year-old back to 1600 m after running the middle-distances very solidly. Fairly certain to run on.

B Compton 15 1461 TURANGANUi (19) 54.5. Showed himself not far from best when sixth behind Ring The Bell tw’o starts back. Won well at Te Rapa last Saturday but this is harder.

Has looked very good up to 1400 a distance at which he was last-start winner at Ellerslie on April 18. Has to be accorded big chance of running this course successfully. W. Robinson 2 8462 SUNFLOWER (16) 58. Turned in solid effort at laststart when second to Orchidra in Weight-For Age 2000 m at Trentham on May 9. On that showing looks hardest to beat. 3 6735 PRINCE TRELAY (7) 57. Has been racing well in class one through central districts so worth respect. B. Compton 4 8 BANZALI (20) 56.5 Looked good a couple of seasons back then lost form. Returned to racing at Dargaville last Friday when second- last of nine. Won class one middledistance at Paeroa early last season but form mainly moderate. 7 969 SIR HERMES (13) 55. Back from a spell when well beaten at last start over 2000 m at Taupo in May 2.
