Huge Thai drug haul

NZPA-Reuter Bangkok Thai narcotic's agents swooped on a pick-up truck parked at a Bangkok hotel and arrested four men. and netted the biggest haul of pure heroin ever found in Thailand. The secretary-general of the Narcotics Control Board (Major-General Pao Sarasin) said yesterday that 55kg of No. 4 heroin was found in a panel behind the vehicle's cab. and that two police radios and a revolver were also seized.

General Pao said that the haul resulted from two years of surveillance of the four suspects, all Thais, aged from. 23 t 0,49. The alleged buyer of the heroin escaped, although his ■ identity was known to the police, a narcotics officer said later.
