‘Obscene’ pamphlets inquiry
The police are continuing investigations into complaints that a group of young people had distributed obscene literature in Christchurch on Wednesday.. A group, wearing clerical garb and masks, distributed literature referring to a recent court case in which Canon Bob Lowe was acquitted of shoplifting charges. The pamphlet, and events in relation to its distribution, were being examined to determine what action would be taken, said the head of the Christchurch police district, Deputy Assistant Commissioner G. E. Twentyman, yesterday.
