Sixth draughts victory
Albert Hrstich, of Auckland, has won the New Zealand draughts championships for the sixth time after a close contest finished in Christchurch yesterday. Hrstich, who first won the title in 1965, finished with 26 points, one clear of a
Christchurch man, Jack Van Nieuwkerk. : Jack Dowie (Christchurch), who won last year’s competition after a countback with Hrstich, finished in thirdequal place with George Hadlee (Timaru).
